- Pick Yasuo top into ranged or weak early fighters you can scale against safely.
- Power spike at level 6 plus Steel Tempest stack: all-in when the enemy commits to a trade without Flash.
- Common mistake: freezing without vision. Ward river before stacking Q so junglers cannot punish your long lane.
Yasuo Top guide
Toplane Yasuo wins duels by punishing a stationary target: poke with Steel Tempest (Q) until Gathering Storm hits two stacks, then the next cast becomes a whirlwind that knocks the target airborne. Sweeping Blade (E) closes the gap first if he isn't already in range, and Last Breath (R) blinks onto whoever is airborne, holding every other airborne enemy nearby at once. Way of the Wanderer (passive) quietly stacks a shield as he moves and pops it the instant a champion or monster hits him.
The build
Exhaust and Flash are the summoners. Precision is the primary tree — Lethal Tempo, Absorb Life, Legend: Alacrity, Last Stand — backed by Second Wind and Overgrowth from Resolve. Doran's Bow plus two Health Potions opens, upgrading into Berserker's Greaves; Q opens and maxes first, E second. Core: Blade of The Ruined King into Immortal Shieldbow and Infinity Edge, expanding into Kraken Slayer, Mortal Reminder, or Lord Dominik's Regards later.
Ability mechanics
Sweeping Blade (E) dashes Yasuo through his target for magic damage; it can't repeat on the same enemy for a few seconds, but chaining it onto new targets ramps the damage each cast. Steel Tempest (Q) counts as a basic attack for scaling, and every landed hit adds a Gathering Storm stack — the second stack turns the next Q into an airborne-knocking whirlwind instead of a normal poke. Last Breath (R) then blinks him to that airborne target, dealing physical damage while holding every other airborne enemy in the radius, refilling Flow, and granting his crits heavy Bonus Armor Penetration afterward.
Matchups
Garen, Darius, Jax, Renekton, and Gangplank give him the most trouble by win rate. Jayce, Malphite, and Yone swing in his favor.
