The best ward spot depends on the threat you face right now, not on a fixed list of good spots. Ask who can hurt you, from which path, and how much warning you need, then put the ward where it shows that path early enough to react. The same lane can need a different ward every few minutes as the wave and the matchup change.

Ward the threat, not the habit
Many players ward the same brush every game. But a ward is only useful if it shows something that changes your decision. If the enemy jungler is on the far side of the map, the river ward next to you shows nothing, while a ward on their next likely path does.
Start from the threat: the enemy jungler, a roaming mid laner, or a support who leaves lane. Then ward the path that threat would take to reach you.
Match the ward to your wave
Your lane state changes how far out your ward needs to be. When your wave is pushed toward the enemy tower, you stand far from safety, so you need a ward further out that gives you time to walk back. When the wave is near your own tower, a closer ward is often enough.
This is why warding and wave control go together: a ward further out lets you push, and a wave near your tower lets you play with less vision.
Think about the matchup
Some enemies make certain spots more important. Against a jungler who ganks from long range or over walls, you need vision earlier on their path. Against a lane opponent who likes to roam, a ward on their route to other lanes lets you warn your team in time.
Use the right ward
A Stealth Ward is invisible and lasts a limited time, so it is best for watching a path. A Control Ward reveals and disables enemy wards around it and stays until it is destroyed, so it is best in a spot you want to hold for a long time, like a brush near your lane or the next objective.
Each player can have only one Control Ward on the map at a time, so choose its spot with care.
Ward with your team
Your wards and your teammates' wards cover the map together. Before placing yours, look at the minimap. If a path is already covered, put yours where nobody has vision yet.
Common ward placement mistakes
Warding the same spots every game without asking what you need to see.
Placing a ward that only shows the enemy when they are already on top of you.
Two teammates warding the same path while another path stays dark.

Frequently asked questions
- What are the best ward spots in League?
- There is no single best spot. The best ward shows the path the current threat will take, early enough for you to react. River brushes, jungle entrances and the brushes near objectives are common because enemies walk through them most.
- Where should I put my Control Ward?
- In a spot you want to keep for a long time and that the enemy is likely to ward too, such as a brush near your lane or near the next objective. It reveals and disables enemy wards around it and stays until it is destroyed.
- How often should I ward?
- Use your trinket when it is ready and there is something worth watching, and buy a Control Ward when you recall if you have none on the map. A ward that stays in your inventory gives nothing.
- Should supports do all the warding?
- No. Supports usually place the most wards, but every role has a trinket. A mid laner warding their own side or a top laner warding their river protects themselves and helps the whole team.
- Is MOBA Trainer free?
