Fogging means leaving the enemy's vision on purpose, so they have to guess where you are. A player who disappears can be anywhere: walking to a gank, setting up a trap or heading to an objective. That uncertainty makes enemies play safer, and that is pressure you create without doing anything visible. It only works if you then use the time well, so disappear with a plan.

Why disappearing creates pressure
When you are visible, enemies know you can't reach them, so they play freely. When you vanish, every enemy near your possible path has to play more carefully, back off from their wave, or ward.
Even if you do nothing, the enemy loses time and farm playing around you. If you then show up where they least expect it, the play is even better.
How to go into fog
After you clear a wave, walk into your jungle or a brush instead of staying visible in lane. Avoid enemy wards you know about, and clear the ones on your path if you can.
Change direction while you are unseen. If the enemy saw you walk toward bot, appearing top is much harder for them to expect.
Use the time
Fogging is a setup, not a goal. Use the time to set up a gank, take a camp, ward an objective, or reach a side wave. Disappearing and then doing nothing only costs you farm.
And watch the other side of it: when several enemies vanish from the map, assume they are fogging toward something. Play safer until you know where they are.
Common fogging mistakes
Disappearing with no plan and losing waves, walking through known enemy wards, and ignoring enemies who disappear are the usual mistakes.
In a replay, count how often you stood in the open with nothing to do. Every one of those moments is a chance to step into fog and make the enemy guess.
Practice the decision on real game situations
Fogging is one of the 51 patterns on MOBA Trainer's Pattern Map, in the Map movement group. It has a video explanation from a coach and training puzzles built from real game situations: you see the map, choose where to go, and learn why the best players choose differently.
