You have three answers to a split pusher: match them with a player who can hold the lane, trade by taking objectives while they are away, or force a fight on their team while they are short one player. Sending two or three players to chase one is usually what the split pusher wants. Pick the answer that fits your team, and decide before they take your towers.

Match them
Send one player who can hold the wave or win the fight against the split pusher. Ideally, that player clears the wave without dying and without needing help.
If nobody on your team can beat them one-on-one, holding near your tower is enough. You don't have to win the duel, you just have to stop the push.
Trade with them
While the split pusher takes a tower, your team can take dragon, Baron or towers on the other side. If you take more than they do, you win the trade.
This works best when your team is grouped and the enemy can't easily fight you without their split pusher.
Force a fight
If the split pusher is far from their team, the other four are fighting without them. Start a fight or siege a tower, and they have to choose between coming back or losing their team.
Before you force it, make sure the split pusher cannot Teleport in. If their Teleport is down, the window is wide open.
Common mistakes against split pushers
Sending three players to chase one, letting the split pusher take towers while your team stands around mid, and walking into a side lane alone without vision are the usual mistakes.
In a replay, find the moments the enemy split pusher took towers. Check what your team did at the same time. If you did nothing, one of the three answers was probably available.
Practice the decision on real game situations
Reacting to splitpush is one of the 51 patterns on MOBA Trainer's Pattern Map, in the Map movement group. It has a video explanation from a coach and training puzzles built from real game situations: you see the map, choose where to go, and learn why the best players choose differently.
Frequently asked questions
- How do you stop a split pusher in League?
- Match them with one player who can hold the lane, trade by taking objectives while they are away, or force a fight on their team while they are missing a player.
- Should I send two players to stop a split pusher?
- Only if you need to and it is safe. Sending too many players usually gives the enemy a numbers advantage somewhere else, which is exactly what split pushers want.
- What if no one on my team can beat the split pusher?
- Hold the wave near your tower with the safest player, or force a fight elsewhere. Defending the tower is enough; you do not have to win the duel.
- Is MOBA Trainer free?
- The daily puzzle and the first lesson are free. The full campaign with every pattern is part of the Season Pass. MOBA Trainer runs on Windows, macOS, iPhone, Android and the web, and the Discord bot Moti brings the daily puzzle to Discord.
